Our process helps us best meet your requirements. If something doesn’t we’ll work to put it right.

If it is out of your original requirements, we will revisit it and work on whats needed to implement it.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT NORMALLY TAKE TO BUILD A WEBSITE?

This can depend on a variety of factors, such as the size of the project and the speed of communication from the client.

Landing websites usually take under 2 weeks,

Standard websites around 4 weeks,

Commerce websites between 4 and 8 weeks.

 

CAN I CHANGE MY WEBSITE LATER ON?

Yes, we can! This will follow our standard process, however, this is a more costly option compared to including them in the original website construction. This is because we have to treat them as a new project.

 

CAN YOU MAKE CHANGES TO MY WEBSITE WOLF DIDN’T BUILD?

In most cases, we can. But we will need to assess the website and come up with a feasibility plan, then a quote on work.

 

WHERE IS YOUR WEB HOSTING?

A majority of our web hosting is in New Zealand and Australia. We manage all our hosting and have sites around the world with packages suited for all requirements.

 

CAN I TAKE MY WEBSITE AWAY?

We can provide you with the content and an export of graphics and design work. Some code may have to stay with us if it’s property of Wolf or a third party.

 

HOW DO I GET MY WEBSITE ON GOOGLE?

Google will index your website within a month and your pages will start showing in relevant searches. Good content and backlinks can help improve your ranking and is where good SEO comes into play.

Alternatively, Adwords can put your website ads across Google and their affiliated websites.

 

 

SIMPLIFIED JARGON

 

SSL

A secure connection used to connect your customer and your website securely and away from prying eyes.

 

SSL CERTIFICATE

Verifies the authenticity of a secure connection. An EV (Extended Validation) certificate also verifies the authenticity of the business that owns the website.

HOSTING

These are computers (know as servers) that deliver your website to your customer.

 

DOMAIN

A word address like google.com that points to the server hosting your website.

 

TOP LEVEL DOMAIN (TLD)

This is the highest level of the domain hierarchy. Some examples are; .com, .co, .nz, .net, there are over a thousand!!!

 

SUBDOMAIN

This is a word or words prepended to the start of a domain, for example; subdomain.example.com or anothersubdomain.subdomain.example.com.

 

COMPRESSION & MINIFICATION

Reducing the size of images, video, and website files to speed the website up.

 

LATENCY

The time it takes for communication between your website and your customer.

 

SEO

Search engine optimisation is where content is written so that it is suited for search engines like Google, and helps improve when your site comes up in search results.

 

BACKLINKS

A backlink is where a web page links your web page. This can help increase your search ranking.

WARNING: Don’t fall for offers like “1000’s back links for $50”, these often use ‘spammy’ or irrelevant sites and can damage your ranking.

 

PROPAGATION

The process of name servers communication and updating their directory records across the internet. This usually happens when you make changes to your websites domain name.

 

NAME SERVERS

Stores information about how to get a customer to the website address they have entered.
